So, I know Christmas was just last week and I should be blogging about Zoey's first Christmas but I really wanted to share with everyone the awesome anniversary gift my husband got for me. Keep tune and I'll get some more blogs up soon.
Our anniversary is two days after Christmas, yeah crazy I know, so since we were in Houston my parents watched Zoey while Clay took me out for a 'surprise.' I knew a surprise was coming, but I have to say I loved it!
We started off the night by having our car Valet parked at the beautiful Double Tree hotel in Downtown Houston. That was a first! We felt funny giving them the keys to our car that had toys strewn about the back seat and is a great but cheap car! We had no idea how much to tip them either, I ended up asking the guy at the front desk so I knew what to give them when we left. He said start with a dollar and it goes up from there, man I felt silly tipping a guy a dollar the next morning!
Clay had booked us the Romance suite and the room was BEAUTIFUL! They brought up chocolate covered strawberries and a bottle of wine. We had them take the wine back and and asked if they had any cider but they were out. We used the ice bucket the wine came in to keep our waters cold instead!
Later that night Clay had gotten us tickets to go and see 'A Christmas Carol' at the Alley theater. The hotel is only 6 blocks away from the theater so we walked. It was a beautiful night for walking and it was nice to get all dressed up and be out and about without carrying a diaper bag over my shoulder! The show was wonderful. At the end Clay and I tried to figure out if the maid for Scrooge was a guy or girl, defiantly was wearing girl clothes but there were a few things that made you go hum. Low and behold it was a guy! It was actually the director! We had a good laugh about that. I know it was common back in Shakespeare's time but it was just funny to us that night!
So, after the play we went to get something to eat. We hadn't really thought that far in advance so we walked around a few blocks to see what was over there and ended up deciding on the Hard Rock Cafe. Now at first I didn't really want to eat there, I was afraid it was one of those places that everyone talks about and everyone wants to go and it's a cool place but the food isn't very good. Boy was I wrong, the food was great! I got this herb chicken with yummy mashed potatoes and then I ate like all my husbands french fries which were some of the best I've had in a while! I thought about buying a shirt while we were there but decided against it after realizing the shirt was more then our whole dinner including tip!
After dinner we walked back to the hotel and I zonked out within 10 minutes of coming home and I did not wake up till morning. The bed was SO comfortable. I don't think I slept that well in who knows how long! Defiantly since before I got pregnant! My wonderful husband let me sleep in the next morning which was so nice! After finally waking up we went down to the restaurant in the hotel and had a yummy breakfast. I had my favorite breakfast food, french toast.
We then packed our things and ventured back home to rescue my parents from Zoey! I am very grateful for my wonderful husband who put so much thought and effort into a wonderful evening for me. I can't believe we have been married for 5 years now! I hope the next 5 years are as wonderful as last 5 years.
XXXVV Still? Really!
